Water, air, soil and biodiversity are the key assets that make up our natural capital. They provide us with benefits in the form of ecosystem services, such as; food, timber, water filtration and carbon sequestration. As we move towards a new future outside of the European Union, policy is shifting to reward land managers for delivering environmental public goods.

As part of the CLA series of events around Natural Capital, we bring you a guided walking tour of the farm and woodland areas of the Englefield Estate in Berkshire.

The Estate has a ‘live’ Environment Strategy, which is in development. This tour will look at where the Estate is at present including baseline assessments and development of the objectives and KPIs relating to Natural Capital and Greenhouse Gas Emissions. It will also cover Home Farm operations, regenerative farming, sustainable operations policy development, farm clusters and carbon assessments alongside future plans for the Estate.

The morning will start at the Long Gallery, Englefield House where Harry Greenfield, the CLA Lead on the Natural Capital Strategy, will welcome you. Estates Director, Edward Crookes and colleagues will then present the Estate’s Environment Strategy before we go out for the guided tour. We will return to Englefield House for a light, buffet lunch before departing around 2pm.
