Natural Capital: The economics of biodiversity

Join us for the next webinar in a new series of events exploring natural capital. During this one-hour webinar CLA Deputy President Mark Tufnell will be in conversation with Professor Sir Partha Dasgupta, Frank Ramsey Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Cambridge, who will discuss his recent review of the Economics of Biodiversity.

Professor Dasgupta has been a Professor of Economics at the University of Cambridge since 1985, serving as Chairman of the Faculty of Economics from 1997 to 2001. He has won numerous awards and in 2002, he was named Knight Bachelor by the Queen for services to economics.

This review has been prompted by a growing body of evidence that in recent decades humanity has been degrading our most precious asset, Nature, at rates far greater than ever before.

 Professor Dasgupta will share with you the details of his review including:

  • how we have come to create environmental problems;
  • the actions we must take to solve them; and
  • a path towards the restoration of our planet's biodiversity through bringing economics and ecology together.

 An audience Q&A will follow their conversation where you can pose your questions to Professor Dasgupta, however if you have any questions you would like to ask before the event, please email them to events@cla.org.uk
