We are extremely fortunate to be able to hold the 2022 Gloucestershire AGM at the Elmore Court by kind permission of Anselm Guise and family. VENUE
The Estate at Elmore has been in the Guise family since the late 13th century, granted in exchange for a favour by Henry 3rd and a rent of one clove of Gillyflower per year. Fast forward nearly 750 years and through the many changes in our world the land is now heading back to something closer to what it might have been then. Anselm Guise, the current custodian, has stopped the farming of 250 acres and given it back to nature with an exciting ‘rewilding’ project. The Estate comprises of around 1000 acres in all with about 40% currently in-hand with the remainder with tenant farmers. There are three main tenant farmers all with slightly different methods though one of them has successfully diversified their dairy business into a wonderful rural ‘Gelato’ business which took off in style during the pandemic; it was about the only place anyone locally could go out and, in the process, people were exposed to a farming way of life as well as getting to eat some delicious ice cream.
