Back by popular demand the member only visit to the Yorkshire Enclosed Beaver Trial
Led by Forestry England, a pair of Beavers were released in to a 10 hectares enclosure in Cropton Forest as part of a licensed trail. This was to assess the impact that the animals would have on reducing the risk of flooding downstream and also the biodiversity of the river corridor.
The visit is an opportunity to see the site 5 years on and to hear about the amazing changes that have been measured on the site since the trail began. There are no guarantees to see the Beavers as they are nocturnal animals.
The visit will take a tour of the enclosure looking at the impacts the beaver have had and the engineering works they have done. Cath Bashforth, Ecologist with The Forestry Commission will talk about the impact that beavers have had on the hydrology and the biodiversity of the site over the 5 years that they have been here.
