CLA Midlands: Visit to Packington Estate and Warwickshire AGM

The Midlands team are delighted to invite you to a bespoke visit to Packington Estate and the Warwickshire AGM.

Packington Estate, between Birmingham and Coventry, has been shaped by its proximity to these two cities, developing into a mixed use, diverse hive of activity where the traditional country Estate meets the urban fringe.

The Estate hosts a mix of farming, forestry, residential, commercial, leisure and quarrying businesses. The Estate is now embracing techniques and practices that fall within the umbrella of regenerative farming, and in addition to this a rewilding project that will encompass in excess of 1,000 acres.

The remaining land comprises of the historic deer park, home to c.400 Black Fallow, re-wilding area, and the ‘Capability’ Brown landscaped pleasure grounds and walled garden.

The day will begin with the AGM and an update on the latest issues affecting members by CLA President Victoria Vyvyan, followed by an introduction to the Packington Estate by Chief Executive Officer Ben Gray.

The day will include guided walking tours of the regenerative agriculture farms, re-wilding area by Land Agent Sam White and a garden tour by owner Georgie Guernsey. The Estate is at the beginning of an exciting new project called Wild Packington, which aims to kick start natural processes and allow nature to lead the way.  The tours will take you to areas where this has already started, showing you around the regenerative farms, the early stages of where c.900 acres are undergoing nature restoration and the recently restored Walled Garden, where no-dig and no- spray methods are being used.

There will be a two-course lunch before reverse tours in the afternoon.

Please ensure suitable footwear and clothing is worn as the tours will take place outdoors.

Please note the garden tour is a 30/40 min walk including slopes and will not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

Please specify if you will be unable to do the garden tour and we will place you on the regenerative agriculture and re-wilding tour in the morning, departing after lunch should you wish.
