Come and Join us for a talk, tour of the estate and lunch in the new
shoot lodge.
Faccombe Estate was purchased in 1977 by Brigadier Tim Landon and his wife Princess Katalin Esterhazy de Galanth. Following his father’s death, his heir, Arthur Landon a successful film producer inherited the estate.
Faccombe Estate is nestled in the North Wessex Downs National Landscape over 4,250 acres and has sustainability at its heart.
The estate benefits from stunning topography, chalk downland and dense woodland, running a shoot, sustainable wood pellet enterprise and extensive arable farming operation and has arguably achieved net zero, being an early forerunner in green energy with the installation of a wind turbine in 1993.The addition of roof top Solar brings underlines this achievement fuether.
The estate strives to deliver benefits for nature and manages and extensive Higher Tier stewardship, England Woodland Creation Scheme and more recently entering into SFI. Woodland management of the commercial and ancient woodland is a priority.
The estate provides 35 sustainable homes within the village, with broadband, electricity and water supplied from the estate with an ongoing programme to upgrade properties with further green credentials
Livestock on the estate include sheep, beef and venison. Wild deer management is imperative given the population growth in order to manage their impact on the woodland and crops. The estate also maintains a small deer park, home to white Fallow and a population of Sika deer. adjacent to the Jack Russell, another estate enterprise.
