Boughton Estate is a working country landscape that extends to over 11,200 acres and features agriculture, forestry, renewable energy, residential and commercial property interests.
During your visit you will enjoy a tour of the in-hand farms which are a mix of livestock and arable operations and managed to the highest standards of environmental stewardship. You will also hear about the ongoing parkland restoration works, renewable energy projects, the biomass woodchip and firewood business along with the simulated game shoot.
The estate is home to Boughton House, one of Britain’s great stately homes. On a walking tour you will hear about the world-renowned collection of fine art, furniture, tapestries, porcelain and carpets. Boughton also has some of the best-preserved baroque state rooms in the British Isles.
Boughton has featured in history and arts programmes, such as Treasure Houses of Britain, presented by Selina Scott and an American Aristocrat’s Guide to Great Estates. It also appeared in the Oscar winning Les Misérables and most recently Ridley Scott’s Napoleon.
Once you have enjoyed your tour of the house, you can visit the surrounding gardens and country park after lunch. Restored over recent years, you can view wide sculptured lawns, serene lakes, waterways, woods and stunning avenues of trees.
