Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens
With over 30 acres, the Subtropical Gardens are home to over 6000 species from across the world. Described as a ‘Plantman’s Garden’, this world-renowned paradise is unique and nestled on the edge of the Dorset Jurassic Coast. A world-renowned garden with exotic, unusual subtropical plants and flowers is what the Gardens are known for. The Gardens are a mixture of formal and informal flowers, world famous for its Camellia groves and Magnolias. Noted in Dorset for its Rhododendron and Hydrangea collections and the charming Victorian Garden.
Due to the plant hunting dynasty, the Gardens today house, display and conserve plants from around the globe. An influential garden and one of the greatest collections of Mediterranean plants in the UK. There are many highlights at the Gardens, including the memorable red bridges, rope bridge, lily ponds, all set amongst a subtropical paradise, which transports you to a distant land.
Abbotsbury Swannery
Located on the Jurassic Coast the Swannery is considered to be one of the best things to do in Dorset. It is a popular and firm favourite for both visitors to the area and with local people too. Abbotsbury Swannery is home to a colony of over 600 Mute Swans, located on the dramatic Dorset Coast. A relaxing and calm place, a visit to the Swannery is a special and unique experience.
