Enjoy a Charming day out at Ascott Estate Buckinghamshire.
The historic Ascott House is home to incredible art, including works by Stubbs, Gainsborough, Rubens, and Rodin, along with exquisite furniture and Chinese ceramics. Along with its beautiful gardens, with sculptures ponds, and so much more to explore.
During the day you will get the opportunity to have a look around the house featuring everything from from 17th-century paintings and 18th-century furniture, to rare Chinese ceramics.
you will also see the trompe-l'oeil effect on the walls – this ‘trick of the eye’ technique sees clever painting creating the appearance of blue and white Dutch tiles. Ascott also has an amazing collection of fahua ware. A secret door, backed by dummy book spines, leads to the Library Passage where you will get the chance to see this impressive collection of porcelain, and is said to be one of the best examples in the world.
The gardens are a mixture of contemporary and traditional landscape. The Lynn Garden is a mixture of circles that meet moated islands and infinity pools. while the the 100-yard Madeira Walk is packed full with borders of delphiniums and old roses. There is also the leafy fern garden and the fragrant scented walk to explore, along with watching carp glide in the Lily Pond while bright blue dragon flies buzz by.
