Experience a unique behind-the-scenes morning at Jeremy Scott’s family-run racing yard on the edge of Exmoor.
Jeremy and his wife Camilla began training point-to-pointers on their 370-acre dairy farm over 15 years ago. In his pursuit to better understand jockeys, Jeremy even rode a few races himself, not very successfully. Thankfully he proved to be a better trainer than jockey, celebrating his first hunter chase win in 2001 at Stratford with County Derry. Jeremy took out his professional training license in 2007 with his first winner under Rules came that May with the eventual high class staying chaser Gone To Lunch.
Following the sale of their dairy herd in 2008 Jeremy and Camilla expanded their facilities to support their growing string of racehorses. These include a 300-meter schooling ring and a three-and-a-half furlong gallop. Since then, Jeremy has trained 388 winners. He has celebrated success on the highest stage, initially with the afore mentioned Gone To Lunch and subsequently with soft ground loving Melodic Rendezvous, the ever tough, homebred, Dashel Drasher and currently at the pinnacle of jump racing, the reigning Champion Hurdle winning mare, Golden Ace.
The yard remains a family affair, with daughters Laura and Georgina playing key roles. After a spinal injury ended her eventing and race-riding career, Laura has been managing the yard for the past five years, balancing racing with dressage and para-dressage competition. Georgina has recently returned from working with leading trainers, bringing new insight and techniques to the team.
