CLA East: Lincolnshire Summer Visit and AGM 2026

Fully Booked.  Please contact the East Office to be added to the waiting list east@cla.org.uk 01638 590429
Visit Burghley Estate and discover a vibrant rural enterprise featuring extensive farmland, woodland, a residential and commercial property portfolio, and a wide range of diversified business ventures.

You will see farmland at Burghley that extends to around 10,000 acres across fifteen farms, some of which have been tended by the same families for generations. The land is farmed mostly for cereal
crops such as wheat and barley, along with some cattle. In addition to these, Burghley has an in-hand sheep flock, with a number of native breeds.

Across this diverse landscape, Burghley oversees the upkeep, management and restoration of numerous distinctive and historically significant properties. During the day, you will hear about
the long term stewardship of these properties which is overseen by The Burghley House Preservation Trust.

You will learn about the demolition of a redundant grain store that is making way for a new farm shop, restaurant and gift store and the complexities of this project. Additionally, you will discover more about St Martin’s Park – a long-running rural development that will feature a designated commercial area, retirement village and a range of residential properties, including affordable homes.

Other business diversifications at Burghley you will hear about include weddings, events, golf, children’s adventure play, and the world famous horse trials.
