Raynham Estate has been recognised for agricultural innovation for centuries. From the revolutionary crop systems of Charles “Turnip” Townshend to today’s focus on sustainable land management, the Townshend family continues to combine heritage with progressive farming.
During this visit you will learn how Raynham farms over 4,200 acres through a mix of in-hand operations, partnerships, and rented land. You will see some of the 600 acres of grassland that support the estate’s Aberdeen Angus beef herd, as well as 700 acres of woodland managed under a long-term commercial plan.
You will hear about farmland that is entered into Higher Tier Countryside Stewardship and sustainable farming schemes, and about a significant lake restoration project.
Additionally, you will discover more about Raynham Estate’s extensive residential and commercial property portfolio and its business diversifications. These include a luxury yurt glamping site, a wedding venue, and a walled garden used to host events. A solar farm powers over 12,000 homes, and an anaerobic digester helps heat more than 4,000 properties.
Lunch will be served in The Copse, a newly opened, exclusive private dining venue on the estate that is surrounded by ancient woodland and open parkland.
