Our visit to the Welbeck Estate will showcase a 15,000 acre working rural estate known for sustainable land management and progressive rural enterprise.
The landscape combines productive farmland, forestry, lakes and parkland, creating a multifunctional environment where heritage and innovation coexist.
Welbeck hosts a thriving commercial ecosystem. More than 300 residential and commercial properties, artisan food producers, craftspeople and visual artists are housed in historic buildings. You will visit this dynamic rural business community and tour the Welbeck Abbey Brewery and DropWorks Rum Distillery.
You will hear about the in-hand farming operation at Welbeck that spans 5,000 acres and produces diverse crops for the open market and the estate itself. You will also see some of the 6,300 acres of forestry which is carefully managed for timber improvement, wildlife conservation, and renewable heat production that powers key estate buildings.
The estate prioritises environmental stewardship, reducing inorganic fertilisers, enhancing wildlife habitat through conservation borders, and actively monitoring biodiversity. This will be discussed on the day.
