The Midlands team are delighted to invite you to the Leicestershire and Rutland AGM followed by a tour of the Lyndon Estate.
The Lyndon Estate is a traditional country estate just south of Rutland Water with Lyndon Hall and the 17th century village of Lyndon at its heart. The Estate has a portfolio of residential and commercial properties and has recently set up and operates a Cafe and Events Venue in Picks Barn a converted farm building on the estate. The in-hand farm is contract farmed by the Conant Farming Company, which farms 3,240 hectares in the counties of Rutland, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
The day will begin with the AGM at Picks Barn and an update on the latest issues affecting members by CLA President, Gavin Lane, followed by an introduction to the Lyndon Estate by Edward Conant and a talk about sustainable & regenerative farming by Farms Director James Green.
This will be followed by a tour of the in-hand farm and a talk about how sustainable and regenerative farming practices are carried out by Conant Farming. This will include the techniques they are using to improve soil health and build organic matter by utilising direct drilling, strip-till drilling, winter cover crops, companion cropping and bringing in herbal leys into the arable rotation.
You will enjoy a two-course lunch of locally sourced food at Picks Barn before departure.
Please ensure suitable footwear and clothing is worn as the tours will take place outdoors.
