We are delighted to invite our North East members to this year’s North East AGM at Bowes Museum.

Surrounded by parkland, accompanied by a formal garden, Bowes Museum sits right at the heart of the attractive and historic town of Barnard Castle. Purpose built by its founders, Josephine and John Bowes, the museum was created to house their vast collection of art. Today, as you walk through the doors of the impressive French-styled building, you’ll see an extraordinary collection of European art, design, textiles, silver and ceramics. Spanning seven centuries of human creativity, the 22 galleries house some of the world’s best-known artists from Van Dyck, Goya, Canaletto and Gainsbrough as well as up and coming contemporary artists. 

The museum has and continues to make its mark on the northern cultural and artistic scene. With co-creation and co-production at its heart; communities, artists, visitors and supporters are being engaged to help shape current and future art experiences.

Following the AGM we will have a  ‘behind the scenes tour’ which will include rare access to the vaults that house objects from the ceramic, furniture and textile collections, a look at their new exhibition ‘Vivienne Westwood: Rebel Storyteller & Visionary’ and a specialist talk on the history of the museum.

10:30am           Formal AGM in the Jubilee Room followed by talks from:

1:15 pm            Two course lunch served in the Jubilee Room
