We are delighted to invite our Somerset Branch members to this year’s Somerset AGM at Quantock Lakes, by kind permission of Jeanes Family.  

Set within 200 acres of Somerset countryside on the edge of the Quantock Hills, Quantock Lakes forms part of a long established family farming business that has diversified over time in response to commercial opportunities.

The wider business includes an arable farming operation growing crops including rye and maize which feed into a local anaerobic digester. Alongside farming, the family has developed a range of other business streams including commercial units let to local businesses, caravan pitches and a park and ride facility supporting the workforce at Hinkley Point power station.

Quantock Lakes Wedding Venue has developed through the restoration and conversion of former farm buildings alongside the construction of new facilities to create a purpose built wedding and events venue capable of hosting up to 400 people. Further agricultural buildings, together with the main farmhouse, have been converted to provide accommodation for up to 65 guests.

The business has grown gradually, with each new area developed in response to the opportunities available at the time.

During the afternoon, guests will hear more about the family’s diversification journey, how the different areas of the business have developed and the thinking behind the decisions made along the way.
