CLA South East - Farm Walk & Emsden Trophy Presentation 2021

THIS EVENT IS FULLY BOOKED

The Emsden Trophy was postponed last year but returns this year to be awarded in person at the home of the 2019 winners, Hugh Lowe Farms.

The trophy is presented for contributing to conservation in Kent. It was created in memory of Brigadier Brian Emsden, the Kent and Sussex CLA Regional Secretary in the 1980s who died whilst in post. He was very keen on wildlife, hence the award in his memory.

The nominees for the Emsden Trophy are selected by the Kent FWAG (Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group).

In 2019 the CLA’s Emsden Award for contributing to conservation in Kent was awarded to soft-fruit growers Hugh Lowe Farms, who have kindly offered to host this year’s Emsden trophy award presentation.

The family has grown soft fruit for more than 120 years on the greensand ridge above the Weald. They have a Whole Farm Environmental Plan, encompassing conservation, waste management, water management, recycling, energy efficiency and crop protection policies.

We will enjoy a tour of the farm, followed by the trophy presentation, a drinks reception and light supper.

This event is free but is limited to 30 members due to Covid restrictions. You must be registered to attend. To join us please register below.

NB. The walking tour is approximately 60 minutes long, you must be able to walk for this length of time. The event will only run if Covid restrictions allow.
