CLA East: Dean Hall Farm Walk, Nottinghamshire

Dean Hall is a modern dairy farm producing milk for Clawson Stilton cheese, grazing 460 cows and 220 heifers. It also includes a 250kW anaerobic digester and three 500kW wind turbines on the land.

On the farm walk we’ll see the 250kW anaerobic digester, built in 2016 and fed with dairy slurry, hybrid rye and maize.
The 'waste' digestate is used on neighbouring land as a valuable source of N, P and K.

We will also have a chance to go inside one of the 500kW wind turbines built in 2015.
The farm has recently installed air source heat pumps in three houses.

We will be shown around by owner Michael Arlington and his colleagues, son in law Joel Rathbone and Apie Pieterse the farm manager.

Following the tour we will enjoy a complimentary barbecue, courtesy of G Williams and Co Seeds and cheese provided by the farm's milk Cooperative, Clawson Cheese.
