The Midlands team are delighted to invite you to a bespoke visit for the Leicestershire and Rutland and Warwickshire AGM at Nevill Holt.

The Nevill Holt Estate extends to approximately 5,000 acres, to include farmland and property. On the agricultural side, the land consists of predominantly arable and mixed grassland. These areas are managed under various arrangements, such as tenancies and licences, but most of the land is farmed in hand via joint ventures.

The Estate also includes residential property, a range of farms (both in hand and tenanted), woodland, an education centre and an opera venue.

The rural business is currently implementing a transition strategy precipitated by the reduction of direct subsidy which visitors may find interesting. This has included the pragmatic expansion of the Environmental Stewardship arrangements via multiple agreements with capital elements, dynamic joint ventures including an organic arrangement and monetising properties, landscape and carbon via tree planting.

Visitors are likely to be able to associate some of the challenges faced by the Estate with their own businesses.

The day will begin at the Opera House with the AGMs and an update on the latest issues affecting members by CLA President Mark Tufnell and an introduction to Nevill Holt.

The day will include guided tours of the opera house, gardens and sculptures with Head Gardener Andy Bretherick and tours of farm stewardship and a tenant bird seed business with Brown & Co.
