CLA North invites you to a tour of the stunning restorations to Leighton Hall Carnforth LA5 9ST on the 26th September 2023
Crosby Granger Architects were invited to design, tender and oversee the replacement of the dilapidated glasshouse and loggia at Leighton Hall, Lancashire.
Leighton Hall is a historic house dating from the 18th century, altered twice within the 19th century, with earlier remains, all set within extensive grounds, near the town of Carnforth in Lancashire. It is a family home which welcomes the public to visit the house and garden along with events including educational visits, weddings, venue hire and others.
The Victorian Glasshouse has recently undergone a significant refurbishment and was part of the Paley and Austin works along with the west tower. This project proposed to restore the timber portion of the conservatory that was replaced in 2000 and had been a challenge given the II* listed status of the property.
Leighton Hall, has been a much loved family home and the centre of an agricultural estate since mediaeval times. Discover the history of the hall and how it has changed in appearance and size over almost 800 years.
Enjoy the famous collection of Gillow furniture and objects d’art, the gardens and woodland walk .
Lucy Arthurs, Leighton Hall’s Estate Manager, will share her in-depth knowledge of the estate and its captivating history. Lucy’s overview will be followed by Paul Crosby from Crosby Granger Architects who will give a talk on renovation works of Leighton Hall which was one of 142 sites across England to receive part of the £35-million Culture Recovery Fund.
