The next CLA London Branch evening will feature guest speaker Edward Parsons, land agent at the Sandringham Estate, private home to His Majesty The King.

It will be held on Wednesday, 8 November from 6pm to 8.30pm, kindly hosted by Knight Frank at 55 Baker Street, London, W1U 8AN.

Edward is due to talk on the estate's work and projects, as well as asking: "What does the countryside do for you?" – exploring how the industry is often misunderstood and under-valued, and should be doing more to highlight the many things it delivers.

The talk will be followed by a Q&A and drinks reception, canapés and networking. 

Edward is the land agent at the Sandringham Estate in north Norfolk. It is a 21,000-acre estate with a diverse range of enterprises including property, in-hand and let farming, forestry, conservation, development land and holiday cottages. It is also a tourist attraction, with approximately 700,000 visitors a year, and employs 200 staff.

Before joining Sandringham, Edward was land agent for Lord J Rothschild at the Waddesdon Estate in Buckinghamshire for 11 years, and before that assistant agent at Castle Ashby for six years.  

Edward believes the contribution of farmers, land owners, woodland managers and all those engaged in the countryside undervalued and unappreciated by large sections of society. He will discuss how the need for the industry to measure and communicate what it delivers is of paramount importance if it is to gain the support required to look after the countryside.

Prior to the talk we will be conducting the London Branch 2023 AGM.
