CLA webinar: Biodiversity Net Gain – What to expect with mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain

With Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) becoming mandatory on the 12th February 2024, join a panel of CLA advisors as they review what to expect in this new era for planning and the environment. There are various ways for members to be involved with BNG but there are many factors to consider when providing your net gain for your own development or creating units for sale to a developer or housebuilder.

CLA Planning Adviser, Shannon Fuller will be providing an explanation on how BNG will impact those submitting planning applications in the future, outlining considerations for members that may be looking to develop or diversify.

CLA Environmental Policy Adviser, Bethany Turner, will take you through the things you need to consider if you are interested in selling offsite biodiversity units to developers. This will include the need for baseline assessments, and the various ways to enter the BNG market.

Jack Burroughs from the CLA Tax Team will then give an overview of the tax issues that landowners thinking of using their land to generate BNG units should be considering, including the impact on their inheritance tax reliefs, VAT, income tax, and capital gains tax.
