CLA Midlands: Visit to Whittern Farm, White Heron Drinks and Herefordshire AGM

The Midlands team are delighted to invite you to a bespoke visit to Whittern Farms and Herefordshire AGM.

Family owned Whittern Farms on the Herefordshire Welsh Borders is much more than a farm, an estate or an agribusiness. The fertile land produces a number of different commercial crops alongside a carefully tended environment where biodiversity and sustainability are encouraged.

The crops on the farm include blackcurrants, supplied to Ribena, cider apples, supplied to Bulmers and Aspalls, vineyards, wheat, barley, oats, maize and oil seed rape. They participate in a Higher-Level Stewardship Scheme, are part of a Wildlife Trust initiative as well as a clean rivers project. They have acres of rented grassland for Herefordshire sheep as well as 100 acres of woodland which is part of a Premium Woodland Grant Scheme. They also have chickens in large environment enhanced sheds with biomass boilers supplied into a local large producer for supermarkets and beyond. There are a number of holiday lets and not to forget the home of British Cassis, luxury liqueur made from juicy berries that are grown, picked and blended on the family farm.

The day will begin with the AGM and an update on the latest policy work and matters affecting members by CLA Vice President, Joe Evans and an introduction to Whittern Farms.

The day will include a walking tour of the apple orchard, blackcurrant plantations & vineyards followed by drinks and canapés.

Please ensure to wear suitable footwear and clothing as the tours will take place outdoors. Please note the walking talk will take approx. 90 minutes across fields.
