The Midlands team are delighted to invite you to visit Litton Properties Riverside Works Regeneration Project and Derbyshire AGM.
Owned by Litton Properties for over 20 years and now the location of the Peak District National Park’s largest dedicated home for business, the Riverside Works is an historic former Arkwright’s mill site on the edge of Bakewell.
Comprising of approximately 30 acres, the site situated adjacent to the River Wye and includes former mill ponds, the mill site itself and a number of remaining workers cottages. This naturally poses flood risk issues, all of which have had to be dealt with to secure planning approvals.
Site development is still underway aiming to provide high quality, modern spaces for local businesses and in due course, a 72-bedroom hotel for the tourist market. The brownfield land contains a vibrant mix of local, regional and national industrial, trade, leisure and retail operators, including the iconic Thornbridge Brewery. It also includes listed structures, a scheduled ancient monument along with other archaeological remains.
You can read more about the Riverside works here. www.riverside-works.co.uk
The day will begin with the AGM and an update on the latest policy work and matters effecting members by CLA Vice President, Joe Evans, followed by an introduction to Litton Properties.
The day will include a walking site tour of the estate covering much of the above and the difficult planning journey for the regeneration of the site, plus an insight into the Thornbridge Brewery and Chatsworth operations followed by a two-course lunch.
Please ensure to wear suitable footwear and clothing as the tours will take place outdoors.
