CLA Southwest: Agricultural Transition Plan Roadshow - Making ELM's work for your business

Navigating the Agricultural Transition

What does the new Labour government mean for farming businesses in our region?

The new government has been elected midway through the agricultural transition in England. 2024 Basic Payment Scheme receipts will be at least 50% of the pre-cut 2020 rates and new Environmental Land Management (ELM) schemes are up and running.

They have said they will continue to roll out and improve the Environmental Land Management schemes, including the Sustainable Farming Incentive expanded offer.

During these two-hour sessions you will hear directly from:

  • CLA experts who will discuss what the latest policy developments could mean for you and provide practical advice
  • Farming Advice Services by Ricardo
  • Representatives from the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) and Catchment Sensitive Farming

There will also be opportunities for CLA members to raise specific questions with CLA experts, Ricardo, Forestry Commission, RPA and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

The Farming Advice Service (FAS), funded by Defra, has partnered with Catchment Sensitive Farming (CSF) to provide farmers with free, confidential advice and guidance in one place. The partnership seeks to improve water, air, and soil quality using the FAS helpline and local knowledge available through CSF advisers.

The FAS helpline can also now support farmers and land managers in navigating guidance on the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme in 2024, as well as other government funded schemes and grants.
