Many farms rely on water which they abstract from the ground or watercourses. However, abstraction licensing is changing. It is important for abstractors to understand what is coming and how to prepare for the possibility of less water.

In this webinar, you will hear from senior Environment Agency staff leading on the changes to abstraction licensing. They will cover the changes brought in by the Environment Act 2021, including:

  • the loss of compensation if licenses are changed or revoked;
  • the transition of licenses into environmental permits;
  • and the implications of regional water resources planning for agricultural abstractors

You will also hear from Dr Steve Moncaster, technical specialist at Broadland Water Abstractors Group, who will discuss how farmers can prepare for these changes and achieve greater water security, informed by his experience of licenses being revoked in Norfolk to protect a SSSI.
