CLA webinar: Trees on Farms – Agroforestry opportunities in England

In this webinar, chaired by CLA Senior Land Use Policy Adviser, Graham Clark, you will hear from the Woodland Trust and the Forestry Commission, two key organisations involved in providing advice, support and funding to farmers interested in integrating trees into their farming operations.

Trees can bring many benefits to farms. The shade, shelter and water benefits they can provide to livestock and crops will be increasingly useful to farmers in the future as our climate patterns change. Agroforestry offers the opportunity to integrate trees into existing operations in various ways which can benefit current farming practice, benefit wildlife and provide additional farm resources or income.

Our first speaker, Helen Chesshire (Lead Advocate for Farming and Agroforestry at the Woodland Trust), will discuss the benefits of agroforestry, the work of the Woodland Trust in promoting it and their Trees for Your Farm Scheme which helps farmers plan agroforestry on their own farms.

You will also hear from Jim O’Neill (Agroforestry Development Manager at the Forestry Commission) about the opportunities to get Government funding for agroforestry on farms though the Sustainable Farming Scheme and the Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier scheme.

There will be time for questions after the speakers.

This webinar will be recorded and circulated post event to all those booked on once we have uploaded to our webpages.
