The Midlands team are delighted to invite you to a bespoke visit to Stapleford Estate and Leicestershire and Rutland AGM.
The Stapleford Estate is a large rural estate on the borders of Leicestershire and Rutland. The estate has their own in-house farming team, with a focus on high yielding arable crops and stewardship.
The farming land is clay, lending itself to autumn cropping such as Wheat, Barley and Oil Seed Rape, Winter Beans and Spring Oats following a winter cover crop.
The Stapleford Estate comprises largely of farmland, residential and commercial property with some woodland.
They have implemented their own private members fourteen-mile equestrian ride which is very popular with local riders. Stapleford has its legendary miniature railway which hosts events 3-4 times a year. Stapleford also has an established Game Shoot and eventually will be offering simulated clay days during the summer months. Just over a year ago they opened a very successful dog walking field and more recently a Doggy Day Care center. Stapleford Estate Events Ltd has been set up to organize bespoke events, corporate team building days, lunches and dinners, parties, etc using the Haven as a base. This is with the aim to create an awareness and a name for Stapleford Estate as a popular destination.
The day will begin with the AGM and an update on the latest issues affecting members by CLA Director of External Affairs Jonathan Roberts.
This will be followed by an introduction to Stapleford Estate by Rob Allan, Estate Manager and former winner of the Farmers Weekly Countryside Farmer of the Year, who will discuss Food, Farming & the Environment.
The tour will include a trailer ride across the Stapleford Estate Parkland in front of Stapleford Park Hotel, this area is designated as Historic Parks & Gardens and is the site of two ancient monuments.
We will drive through Holygate Farm, the main farming hub past the workshops, grain store and newly built pig unit.
We will take in many of the arable crops whilst discussing, Stapleford Mid-Tier agreement and their SFI agreement, whilst also looking at several of their capital items that have been implemented through Mid-Tier or the Stand-alone Capital schemes.
Stapleford maximizes the use of organic manures and employs precision farming techniques including the use of the Harvest Lab technology to analyze nutrient as manures are spread. The result of this approach is that they are one of a small number of traditional arable farms that sequester carbon each year and are now making significant carbon sales. Touching on the latest challenges and opportunities facing farming the whole trip should be very enjoyable and informative with spectacular views across Leicestershire & Rutland.
After the tour there will be a two-course cold buffet in the afternoon.
Please ensure suitable footwear and clothing is worn as the tours will take place outdoors and there may be uneven ground.
