Join this CLA farm walk and discover how Wildfarmed puts regenerative farming at the heart of its business.
You will visit Dennington Hall Farms, a 1,600ha family farm in the heart of Suffolk where regeneration and sustainability meets modern and innovative farming techniques in a 19th century landscape. The farm operates a 12 year cropping rotation carefully selecting and growing crops that are well-suited to our land, climate and the surrounding ecosystems.
As a Wildfarmed grower, a range of techniques are used such as cover cropping, crop rotation, and managed grazing to rejuvenate the land. The farm is producing for Wildfarmed a regeneratively grown wheat and beans bi-crop along with spring barley with a clover understory.
Wildfarmed ensures farming is undertaken in a way that puts soil health first, creating thriving ecosystems and food packed with nutrients. In doing so, it creates more resilient, healthy soil (less flooding and river pollution) and provides a valuable habitat for birds, bugs and bees.
During the walk you will hear about these farming techniques and also about the farm’s award winning suckler herd of pedigree Red Poll cattle and their Boer goats. You will hear how Nofence collars are used.
Also incorporated on the farm is a variety of natural features, such as wild bird habitats, pollen and nectar mixes, as well as bare fallow. The farm contributes to a wonderfully biodiverse environment that supports a wide array of animals, fostering a thriving ecosystem. This event is supported by:-
