CLA South West: Visit to a Robotic Dairy Exploring Innovation in Slurry-to-Energy & Automated Dairy Systems

CLA Technical Visit: BioFactory & Lackham Robotic Dairy
Exploring Innovation in Slurry-to-Energy & Automated Dairy Systems

Join us for a fascinating morning tour exploring two outstanding examples of innovation in the rural economy.

We’ll begin with a visit to BioFactory Energy, a Wiltshire-based Agri-Tech business.

BioFactory is transforming slurry into energy with their modular, containerised anaerobic digestion (AD) systems built for UK dairy farms.

Their plug and play scalable AD system tailored specifically to the needs of the Dairy sector Creates on site renewable energy (electric & heat) from its autonomous operation, as well as offering energy security and low cost. The adaptable, flexible solution provides the opportunity to scale and grow, future proofing Dairy businesses, while minimising environmental impact.

The visit will also include a tour of Lackham College’s cutting-edge robotic dairy, where you’ll see first-hand how automation and data-led systems are transforming livestock management, animal welfare, and farm productivity.

Attendees will split into two groups, rotating between the BioFactory site and the robotic dairy, with opportunities for Q&A and discussion throughout.

Provisional agenda:

  • 10:30am Arrival with welcome tea/coffee
  • 10:45am Welcome from BioFactory & Lackham
  • 11:15am Guided tours (BioFactory & Robotic Dairy, groups to rotate)

CLA Finance will also be in attendance at the event.
