CLA Women's Network: Breaking through, leaning in: Evening reception for women in rural

An evening of insightful discussion and connection, reflecting on and supporting career development for women in rural

You are invited to an evening that will spark ambition and build connections. With a theme of breaking through and leaning in, celebrate the women across the rural sector, pushing boundaries, rising to challenges, and leading with purpose. All profits will be donated to the CLA Charitable Trust.

The event will be hosted by, Eliza Ecclestone, CLA Vice President, and Managing Trustee at St Clere Estate. Already confirmed for our panel is Hattie Bryett, former CLA Charitable Trust Scholar in Agriculture & Animal Science, from a non-agricultural background, now beginning her career in the industry. We will confirm the rest of the panel shortly.

Our panelists will share their personal journeys of determination, resilience, and impact within the agricultural and rural sectors. From navigating early career hurdles to embracing leadership opportunities, shining a spotlight on the work of women in rural, and exploring the barriers and opportunities to developing careers.

Whether you're just starting out, seeking your next step, or hoping to support/champion more women in the rural workforce, this event is about lifting each other up. Expect honest conversation, practical advice, and a welcoming atmosphere where women can feel seen, supported, and inspired.

Enjoy drinks and canapés (courtesy of our generous sponsors) and meet other women that are shaping the future of our rural communities.

Eliza (right) has worked as a family solicitor and is an accredited mediator specialising in family and estate succession disputes. St Clere Estate comprises a working farm, with residential/commercial property portfolio and managed woodland. Eliza has led a diversification of the business, including into large scale festivals and events, development as a film location and property renovation and development (navigating the sensitivities of doing this in the Green Belt). She has been awarded a British Empire Medal for services to her community, has been a member of CLA Policy Committee since 2019, chaired BREC since 2023, and became Vice President at the end of 2025.

Hattie (left) is a recent Agriculture and Animal Science graduate from Aberystwyth University. Since graduating, Hattie works full-time as a receptionist at a veterinary clinic, while actively seeking opportunities to build her career in the agricultural sector. Hattie is committed to supporting and empowering more women and younger generations to engage with agriculture to understand its importance, appreciate its complexity, and recognize the rewarding careers it offers.
