This exclusive walk for CLA members offers an in-depth look at the estate’s rewilding journey, its wildlife, evolving habitats, and the future vision for nature recovery in West Dorset.

About Mapperton Wildlands
Mapperton Wildlands is recognised as Dorset’s most spectacular rewilding project, where natural grazing, regenerative farming and low-intervention land management are restoring a mosaic of habitats. Highlights include:
- Free-roaming native grazers such as White Park cattle and Exmoor ponies, shaping habitat diversity.
- Expanding scrub, ponds, and wetlands, vital for supporting flourishing wildlife communities.
- How the reintroduction of beavers contributes to natural flood management and biodiversity enhancement.
- A wider estate approach combining rewilding, traditional conservation, and regenerative agriculture to restore ecological health.
