How to fulfil Sustainable Farming Scheme universal action 10 (tree and hedgerow planting opportunity plan).

 As sustainable farming scheme deadlines approach, join us at Llanover Estate to learn what you need to do for your mapping exercise for tree and hedgerow planting and contribute to your continuous professional development requirement.  

This visit focusses on the practical steps required by Sustainable Farming Scheme universal action 10 – the tree and hedgerow planting opportunity plan. Visitors will be guided around Llanover Estate by owner and former CLA President Ross Murray, learning how the estate has planted the right trees in the right places for their business. This advice will help you use universal action ten (UA 10) to support your business plan, rather than as a box-ticking exercise.  

Welsh Government officials will lead a session to explain how to translate your plan into a digital map. We will walk through the Rural Payments Wales online portal for submitting your plan, navigating step-by-step to ensure you can upload an accurate map, on time. This session will contribute one hour of learning towards universal action four's (UA 4) requirement for six hours of continuous professional development. 

In addition, we will be hearing from CLA partners about the business benefits of both commercial and non-commercial tree-planting. You will learn how trees can deliver improved cashflow, shelter belts for livestock, and resilience to disease. 
The event is free for members, with lunch and networking opportunities included.
